Playing catch-up

Hello friends!

Sorry I’ve been so absent. Here’s the scoop:
Shakes stuff: Last week was Costume Blitz Week. Basically, we had one week between casting the show and taking the promotional pictures. So I had one week to get all thirteen costumes (or close approximations of them). After a lot of long hours and a whole lotta thrift shops, Costume Blitz Week was a success! I have a one-page list- a one-page list!- of things I still have to get before the show. That list is usually in my hand about a week before we open. I am so blessed to have so much time to get the costumes done.

Sunday was the promotional photo shoot. One word: Gorgeous. More words: Funny, charming, modern, sweet, silly… I could go on, but a picture is worth a thousand words, and I will soon have a picture. I can’t wait until I can show it to you!

Baby stuff: Google is growing! One wives’ tale people use to determine whether the baby is a boy or a girl is how you’re carrying. “Are you carrying low or high?” they ask. Let me tell you, since I’m 4’11”, I’m carrying everywhere! It’s a little funny. πŸ™‚ I’ve had so many people ask, “When are you due?” and when I say, “September,” their eyes get really big. Yes. September. I still have three months!

Google is also very active. Very! Lots of bumps and wiggles and dancing.

Book stuff: Lots of good stuff going on with my book (Yellow Bike). Lots of good stuff. I’m starting a new re-write after some very valuable feedback. Sorry to be so mysterious. Life is one big revision! I hope to have it done in a few weeks.

So things are busy right now! Someday I will have a very cool, insightful post. I promise. Today, though? Just catching you up. πŸ™‚

Google blurps and fiddles.

“Google” is what we’re calling the baby before he/she is born. πŸ™‚

Lately, I’ve been feeling little Google move around, and it is fun! For a while I was convinced it was gas but now I’m quite sure that little Google is just dancing around in there.

One of the reasons I thought Google’s escapades were gas is because the books and stuff say that the first baby movements feel like “nudges” or “rolls” or “tickles.” But they don’t.

The best words I’ve found to describe it are “blurps” and “fiddles.”

So, Google is blurping and fiddling, and that is very exciting. πŸ™‚

Oh! And to answer a few questions…

No, we’re not finding out the gender of the baby! We prefer to be surprised! (And I prefer NOT to receive an entire room full of Star Wars baby stuff if Google is a boy. Although my husband argues that Star Wars is gender neutral and, well, I suppose it is. I mean, I like Star Wars okay.)

...and you have to admit this is pretty adorable.

…and you have to admit this is pretty adorable.

We will be attempting cloth diapers, as well! Yay for attempts!

We are still hoping to renovate the kitchen as well as fix up the baby’s room.

And we will definitely produce a full-length production of Much Ado About Nothing with 12 urban kids, which we will then tour about one month before Google makes his/her appearance!

Oh, and it would be nice to finish my book and get an agent.

Thank you!

BookTales! A-woo-hoo!

Thanks for sticking it out, friends. This summer my posts all but disappeared.

It has been quite a summer! I promise I will tell you all about the success that was Shakes, but that will come later. There will be pictures and stories and all kinds of things! But for now…? For now I will swim in my words like Scrooge McDuck swims in money.Β It may not be good swimming. It may not be even passable swimming. But I don’t care! I will swim anyway!

I’ve missed words. Over the summer, books became stressful- more work on my to-do list. Writing became impossible as 14-hour work days became the norm (The ultimate goal was to be done by the time Master Chef came on tv. Then I made myself stop working. Sometimes.)Β No longer! Today was my first day back at the coffee shop. After a mere 7-hour workday, it is amazing how much brain power and creativity I have left!

Some friends I met at the Backspace conference are doing a book swap. It is a wonderful time of booking and swapping. I have already swapped twice. Time to book tonight!

Soon I will begin some revisions (based on lots of swappin’ good feedback) on Bleeder 1.

I. Can’t. Wait.

Happy living!

3-minute post

Three minutes is all I have. Sorry I’m so busy!

The run of the show was awesome, tour was great, then we took 2 students on a cruise as part of the Master Class Academy- awesome learning/teaching/relaxing time!

Now we’re shooting an independent film called Progression. Eric and I play a punk couple that makes out throughout the whole film. So much fun! I have a giant dragon tattoo on my neck!

Off to go film.

Back to the coffee shop on Monday.

Counting down the days to normalcy…
